Hello everyone and welcome back to Kelvin's Kitchen! Today, I'm going to show you how to make a delicious and simple loaf of bread with the help of a stand mixer.

To begin, in the bowl of your stand mixer, add 3 cups of bread flour, followed by one packet of instant yeast, one and a half teaspoons of fine sea salt, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Then, whisk to combine with a whisk.

Next, add 3/4 cup of warm water and 1/2 cup of whole milk to the flour mixture in the stand mixer bowl. Begin mixing on low speed until a shaggy dough forms. Feel free to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl to make sure that nothing is sticking.

You may increase the speed to medium and continue mixing for another 5 to 7 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Once the dough has formed, add 3 tablespoons of unsalted room temperature butter, and continue mixing until all the butter has been evenly incorporated, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

Next, remove the dough from the bowl and grease the same bowl with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Then, shape the dough into a ball and transfer it back into the bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and keep it in a warm place for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until it doubles in size.

After about 2 hours, once it has doubled in size, punch the air out, then reshape the dough back into a ball. Spray a loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into an oval shape, then roll it up and fold both ends underneath the dough. Transfer the dough into the prepared loaf pan, then cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise once more for about 1 hour.

After 1 hour, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius). Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown. If everything goes according to plan, your loaf of bread will look delicious!

Transfer the loaf of bread to a wire rack and let it cool off. Once the bread has somewhat cooled off, go ahead and slice it. You may store the homemade loaf of bread at room temperature in an airtight container for about three to four days.

If you found this recipe helpful, you will get a perfect, delicious loaf of bread every single time. Thanks for watching, and see you later!

Milk bread

The addition of milk to the recipe gives the bread a tender crumb and a slightly sweet taste. Milk also helps to create a softer crust and a more even color during baking.

Making bread

The use of a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment makes it easier to knead the bread dough, resulting in a more consistent texture and a better rise. Kneading the dough by hand can be time-consuming and tiring, but using a stand mixer allows you to achieve a smooth, elastic dough with less effort.

FAQs

Q: Can I use all-purpose flour instead of bread flour?

A: You can use all-purpose flour instead of bread flour, but the bread may have a slightly different texture. Bread flour has a higher protein content, which helps to create a chewy texture and a better rise. All-purpose flour has a lower protein content, which can result in a denser bread. If you don't have bread flour on hand, you can use all-purpose flour, but the texture may not be quite as good.

Q: Can I use instant yeast instead of active dry yeast?

A: Yes, you can use instant yeast instead of active dry yeast. Instant yeast is a more finely ground yeast that doesn't require proofing before use, so you can add it directly to the dry ingredients. If using instant yeast, reduce the amount to 2 teaspoons instead of a full packet of active dry yeast.

Q: Can I make this bread without a stand mixer?

A: Yes, you can make this bread without a stand mixer. Simply mix the ingredients together by hand and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. This will require more effort and time, but it is possible to make bread without a stand mixer.

Q: Can I freeze the bread?

A: Yes, you can freeze the bread once it has cooled completely. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place it in a freezer-safe container. To thaw, let it sit at room temperature for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

Q: Can I add herbs or spices to the bread dough?

A: Yes, you can add herbs or spices to the bread dough to flavor it. Try adding dried herbs such as rosemary, thyme, or oregano, or spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for a sweet bread. Add them to the dry ingredients before mixing with the wet ingredients.
