  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth or beer
  • 2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon kosher salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Toppings: shredded cheese sour cream, green onions, cilantro, jalapeños (optional)

Method
 

  1. Sauté the Beef and Veggies:If your slow cooker has a sauté setting, turn it on. Brown the 2 lbs of lean ground beef in the slow cooker, breaking it apart as it cooks.
