Ingredients
Method
- Peel the green plantains by cutting off the ends and making a shallow lengthwise slit along one of the ridges. Use a paring knife to remove the tough skin carefully.
- Set your air fryer to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes.
- Cut the plantains into 1-inch pieces and place them in a mixing bowl. Toss with 2 tablespoons of avocado oil to coat evenly. Arrange the plantain pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) for 10 minutes until slightly golden and softened.
- Use a tostonera or the back of a drinking glass to gently mash the plantains into flat disks. If they stick, carefully separate them with a paring knife.
- Return the tostones to the mixing bowl and coat them with the remaining 2 tablespoons of avocado oil. Place them back in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove the tostones from the air fryer and season immediately with garlic salt or your preferred seasoning while still hot. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
