Scrumptious peaches baked in a savory homemade crust, then topped with your favorite vanilla ice cream. Life is good!

Cobbler

Cobbler is a dessert consisting of a fruit (or less commonly savory) filling poured into a large baking dish and covered with a batter, biscuit, or dumpling (in the United Kingdom) before being baked. Some cobbler recipes, especially in the American South, resemble a thick-crusted, deep-dish pie with both a top and bottom crust. Cobbler is part of the cuisine of the United Kingdom and United States, and should not be confused with a crumble.

Where does cobbler come from?

Cobblers originated in the British American colonies.[2] English settlers were unable to make traditional suet puddings due to lack of suitable ingredients and cooking equipment,[2] so instead covered a stewed filling with a layer of uncooked plain biscuits, scone batter or dumplings, fitted together.[3] The origin of the name cobbler, recorded from 1859, is uncertain: it may be related to the archaic word cobeler, meaning "wooden bowl".[4] or the term may be due to the topping having the visual appearance of a 'cobbled' stone pathway rather than a 'smooth' paving which would otherwise be represented by a rolled out pastry topping..

The Most Amazing Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

For the Peaches

4 15oz cans of sliced peaches (drained)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

3 tsp corn starch

Pinch of nutmeg

1/2 tsp cinnamon

For the Cobbler

7 tbsp butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine drained peaches with sugar, corn starch, and spices.

Cut butter into a few pats and place in your 9x13 baking dish then pop your dish into the oven to warm until the butter melts. Set the dish aside once melted.

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl then pour in the milk and mix until just combined.

Transfer the batter into your baking dish and spread out toward the edges but do not mix with the butter.

Transfer the peaches with any liquid into your dish and spread them out evenly. Leave some gaps for the cobbler topping to rise through.

Bake at 350°F for about 50-55, minutes or until golden brown.

Serve while still warm and top with vanilla ice cream.
