Method
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and break it up. Saute until brown.
- Add the diced onion and saute until translucent. Add minced garlic and saute for 30 seconds.
- Season with Adobo, sazon, Italian seasoning, paprika, cumin, and black pepper. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes and water and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Remove the beef mixture and set aside.
- Peel the Malanga root, green bananas, and green plantain. Cut into pieces and pulse through a food processor until smooth.
- Season the vegetable mixture with Adobo, sazon, and black pepper. Mix until incorporated.
- Spread vegetable mixture in a silicone mold, add beef in the center, and cover with more vegetable mixture.
- Freeze for at least four hours before frying.
- Fry in canola oil at 350F for 8 minutes per side. Or air fry at 400F for 10 minutes per side.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
