Pork Braised in a Pumpkin (Pig in a Pumpkin)

Easy and delicious Pork Braised in a pumpkin is a great fall recipe to surprise your friends and family!

What is a cooking Pumpkin?

Cooking Pumpkins are also known as Pie pumpkins are used for cooking or baking and are also called sugar pumpkins. They are more petite and are often used to decorate or paint rather than carve. Although they make adorable front porch décor, they are best when roasted in the oven and baked into your favorite fall desserts.

Can carving pumpkins be used for cooking?

Those big pumpkins you see at the pumpkin patch for carving into jack-o'-lanterns look appealing, but they're the worst for cooking and baking. While yes, they are edible and you can cook with them, they're very stringy, bland, and watery.
