1 cup warm whole milk (110 degrees)

1/3 cup honey

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and foamy.

Add the flour, softened butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until the dough is smooth, soft, and slightly tacky but not sticky.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball by tucking the edges underneath and rolling gently on the counter. Place the balls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
